HOW IT WORKS

THE BASICS

01 What is HellMode? +

HellMode is not built around one giant social feed. Your account has its own Space, and that Space becomes the center of everything you do.

You can leave Drops, open Doors, receive Signals, talk through Lines, and build a history in your Archive.

02 What should I do first? +

Start in your Space. From there, create a Drop or explore one of the other sections.

You do not have to fill everything out at once. HellMode becomes more useful as you leave things behind and connect with other people.

03 What is a Drop? +

A Drop is something you leave behind for a limited amount of time. It can be a thought, memory, joke, question, warning, idea, or anything else that fits into the Drop.

A Drop remains live for the amount of time you choose. Afterward it can move into Archive instead of simply disappearing.

04 Who can see my Drops? +

Visibility controls decide who can encounter a Drop.

ONLY ME The Drop stays private to your account.
KNOWN People you have mutually connected with can see it.
DISCOVERABLE The Drop can be found through HellMode's discovery systems.
OPEN The Drop can be visible broadly to people using HellMode.
05 What are Doors? +

Doors are places connected to your Space. A Door can lead to a room, collection, event, experiment, or another type of place.

You decide what exists behind it and who is allowed to enter.

06 What does OPEN or SEALED mean? +

An OPEN Door can be entered by people who have permission to see it. A SEALED Door remains closed.

Sealing a Door does not automatically destroy it. It simply stops access until you choose to open it again.

07 What are Signals? +

Signals tell you when something meaningful changes in your HellMode world.

Examples can include Knocks, Drop discoveries, echoes, Door activity, new Lines, and system events. Signals are not intended to become another endless feed.

08 What are Lines? +

Lines are direct conversations. Instead of mixing private conversations into your Space, Lines keep them in their own place.

09 What is Archive? +

Archive is where older material can settle after it stops being active.

For example, an expired Drop may move into Archive instead of being erased completely. Archive represents the history of your Space.

10 What does KNOWN mean? +

KNOWN is HellMode's connection concept. Instead of treating every connection as a generic friend, people become Known after a mutual connection is established.

The connection system will use Knocks: one person Knocks, and the other decides whether to accept.

11 What is a Knock? +

A Knock is a request to connect with another person. If they accept, the connection becomes Known.

Knocks will also appear through Signals so you know when somebody is trying to reach your Space.

12 Can strangers see everything I do? +

No. Drops, Doors, and other HellMode objects can have visibility rules. Some things can be private, some can be limited to Known people, and some can be opened more broadly.

The owner of the content decides how exposed it should be.

13 Is HellMode another Facebook or Instagram? +

No. HellMode is intentionally organized around Spaces, Drops, Doors, discovery, direct interaction, and history instead of one giant conventional feed.

14 Can I remove things later? +

HellMode distinguishes between things that are active, sealed, expired, and archived. Controls for removing or permanently deleting specific content can be added where appropriate.

Still confused? Good. Explore. HellMode makes more sense once you start leaving things behind.
